There has been a consistent trend in my inbox – an increasing number of couples are choosing to forgo grandiose ceremonies and opting instead for smaller elopements and Courthouse Ceremonies. To be honest, I'm not mad about it. Don't get me wrong, I have a huge appreciation for the big parties. I love a good dance floor and drool over the details that undoubtedly took a considerable amount of time to iron out.
Courthouse weddings are stripped down. There's beauty in a ceremony with just rings, a bouquet, your Sunday best, and your closest family and friends. (I’ve also photographed ceremonies with JUST the couple, I especially love those too).
The Tarrant County Courthouse at 100 W Weatherford St Fort Worth, TX, holds the top spot as my favorite spot for capturing Courthouse Ceremonies. The architecture has so much character, and it photographs so beautifully. I love to document my couples on the stairs, capture stolen kisses in the elevator, or walking hand in hand in the hallway. The ceremonies are often "short and sweet," giving plenty of time to capture portraits afterward. After the ceremony, I enjoy capturing portraits of my couples at nearby locations, and more often than not, we choose to stay right in Downtown.
Every wedding is unique, whether it's a grand celebration or a quieter ceremony. What truly matters at the end of the day is marrying the love of your life – that, in itself, is a successful wedding. The rest is just minor details.
