Dallas Wedding

Lyndsey + Andrew are Married // The Filter Building - Dallas, TX

Andrew & Lyndsey's wedding was one of my FAVORITE weddings in 2017. Every. single. detail was thought out, and executed so perfectly. Not to mention how perfect they are.

The day of the wedding the weather was gray, and well just bleh. We managed to get some formals outside before the rain started. I was really hoping the sun would pull through - but the ceremony indoors ended up being perfect. The beautiful thing about The Filter Building is how much character the venue itself actually has. The textured/brick walls make for beautiful portraits, and their ceremony with the green pop from her altar was gorgeeouuss.

The Bokemeyers love to travel, and their centerpieces were pictures from all of their adventures. It was so neat to look at, and so perfect for them.

It was raining pretty much all night long - which meant the original exit idea of sparklers was a no go. The DJ called last song, and the guests got in a circle and lit up their cell phone flash lights while Journey's "Don't Stop Believin" was playing. Then Andrew & Lyndsey ran through everyone for their exit. It was my favorite part of the night, and probably my favorite exit that I have ever photographed.

I've also started implementing post wedding interviews for my couples - SO much planning goes into weddings, and it's nice to look/recap of what the couple thought of their big day. <3

Wedding Date:
Dec 16, 2017

How did you two meet?
We met at Texas A&M University through a mutual friend. We found out that we were both signed up for the same study abroad program in France that coming summer (2010), so we started going to the complimentary French classes offered by the program together. Andrew would save a seat for me in French class and the spark started from there. We ended up being in the same weekend travel group that summer in France so we pretty much spent every day of the 5 week study abroad together - in class during the week and traveling to various cities around Europe on the weekends! We became the unofficial couple of the study abroad group and when we came back to Houston, we made it "official".

Tell us about your proposal!
It was our 5 year anniversary (2015) and Andrew had made reservations at a nice restaurant called Oxheart that we had been wanting to try for a long time. We had previously agreed not to exchange gifts and when I got home from work that day I saw a present sitting on the table. I said "hey we agreed no presents!" and he said "oh it's just a little something", which turned out to be the ring that he was hiding! As I was reading his romantic and heartfelt card at the dinner table, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The restaurant already knew the plan so they brought us champagne afterwards and the head chef congratulated us as well. It was a perfect night!

How many guests did you have at your wedding?
About 115

Why did you pick the venues that you chose?
We were looking for a venue that wasn't "cookie cutter". We wanted a place that felt unique, had an interesting history, and had an outdoor area for the ceremony (when it's not raining, hah!) that reflected our love for nature and the outdoors. The Filter Building is located on White Rock Lake, a beautiful lake, nestled in the middle of Dallas, that feels like the furthest place from a big city while still being conveniently located near all of the amenities of the city.

What song did you walk down the aisle to?
"Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley (live acoustic guitar)

What song played for your first dance?
"You Are The Best Thing" by Ray LaMontagne

What inspired your wedding décor? Did you have a theme in mind?
With the wedding being a week before Christmas, we had a "winter wedding" theme in mind. We wanted it to be nature inspired with a lot of greenery without feeling too "Christmasy".  We used unusual and unique flowers, numerous candles, and let the brick walls of the Filter Building add a beautiful backdrop that felt warm and inviting.

What colors did you choose and how did you decide?
Eggplant and light grey. We wanted wintery colors that complimented each other. I've always loved dark purples and I knew Andrew looked good in a grey suit :)

Tell me about some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them!
One of our favorite wedding details was our cake topper. We currently live in Norway so we wanted to incorporate something Norwegian into the wedding. We found this perfect figurine in Norway of a cute Viking couple leaning in to kiss and we added a small Norwegian flag in the background. Another favorite detail was our Polaroid Guestbook (it was actually a Fujifilm camera but that doesn't sound as good lol). We had someone taking pictures of the guests, then the guest would take their instantly developed picture, put in our guestbook, and write us a little note!

What was your absolute favorite part of the day? Does your spouse have a different favorite?
My ABSOLUTE favorite part of the day was when we were standing in front of the officiant, listening to his beautiful words, and staring into Andrew's eyes. I couldn't stop smiling, it felt like we were the only two people in the entire world. We had to change the ceremony to be inside because of the rain, which I was really upset about earlier in the day, but when I was up there marrying my best friend, none of those little details mattered. All I could think about was how happy I was that I get to spend the rest of my life with this amazing person.

Any advice for those couples planning their wedding now?
Don't get too lost in the details and don't forget the reason you are doing all of this. Everything will work out fine because you are marrying the love of your life.
