Colleen + Eric Backyard Wedding // Benbrook, TX

2020 is over. f i n a l l y.

so many of my couples were forced to change their wedding plans, traded banquet halls for backyards, guest lists of 100+ dwindled down to handfuls - but in the end; love always wins. the love, laughter, celebration, it all still remains. i have fallen in love with these smaller ceremonies, and really enjoy documenting them. they feel more personable, more intimate. colleen’s dad showed me around the backyard when i walked in, he was so proud of all that he and the family did to prepare colleen and eric’s yard for the wedding. talked to me about how much mulch he laid, and how this furniture wasn’t here, and honestly, it was just precious.

the ceremony was short and sweet, and the weather was absolutely perfect. eric’s brother married them under a gorgeous tree. colleen’s family is from new orleans, and that is where they were supposed to be married. im told it is new orleans tradition after the ceremony for the bride and groom to parade the streets of the square with parasols, followed by a jazz band and wedding attendees. they brought a little of that to their ceremony, colleen’s dad turned on jazz music and they marched around the backyard. it was one of my favorite parts of the day.
